WHO WE ARE
Paroley is operated by OONELAB INC., Toronto, Ontario, Canada. For anything on this page, write to info@oonelab.com.
This notice covers our website, the waitlist, and the Paroley service and account for customers who use it. Where the law of your country uses the term, we are the controller of the information described here, except where we say otherwise below.
IF YOU ONLY JOINED THE WAITLIST
We hold your email address, the date you gave it, and a short label for the page you gave it on. We use it to tell you when access opens, and for nothing else. We do not sell or rent it, and we do not add you to other mailing lists.
The basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. Under Canadian anti-spam law this is express consent to receive messages about Paroley. You may withdraw it at any time by writing to us or by using the unsubscribe link in any message. We keep the address until you ask us to delete it, or for up to 24 months from sign-up, whichever comes first.
The rest of this page applies once you have an account.
WHAT AN ACCOUNT INVOLVES
Paroley connects to a phone you own and lets you handle calls and messages for that line from your browser. Doing that means information about those calls and messages passes through, and in some cases is stored by, the service.
We hold the following:
Account information. The email address and basic profile details from the sign-in provider you choose, and the settings you configure.
Call records. For each call: the time it started and ended, its length, whether it was incoming or outgoing, whether it was answered, and the other party's number. If you turn on transcription, a written record of what was said, and a short summary.
Messages and contacts. Text messages sent and received through the service, and the contact entries you save or that are drawn from your phone.
Operational information. Records needed to run and support the service — whether your device is reachable, connection status, and error reports. These are kept separately from call and message content.
We do not ask for and do not want payment card numbers, government identifiers, or health information. Please do not put them into the service.
AUDIO
Live call audio passes through in order to connect the call. We do not keep audio recordings of your calls after a call ends.
If transcription is switched on, audio is converted to text while the call is in progress. Conversion is carried out by a service provider acting on our instructions under contract. The written record is kept in your account; the audio is not.
ENCRYPTION AND YOUR KEY
Call transcripts, summaries, message text, contact names and phone numbers are encrypted before they are stored, using a key that is generated on your device and held by you. We do not hold a copy of that key.
Two things follow, and both matter. Without the key, this content is not readable by us, and we cannot produce it for you, restore it, or recover it if you lose the key. And because we cannot read it, we cannot search it on your behalf or hand a readable copy to anyone else, including in response to a legal request — we would be able to provide only what we hold in a readable form, which is the operational information described above.
Keep your key safe. You can retrieve and save a copy of it from your device's setup page at any time. If it is lost, the encrypted content cannot be recovered by anyone.
No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we do not claim otherwise. We take measures we consider appropriate to the risk, and we keep them under review.
RECORDING, AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Laws about recording and transcribing conversations differ by country, province and state. In some places every participant must agree; in others one is enough. Some places treat an automated voice answering on your behalf differently again.
You are responsible for using Paroley lawfully where you are and where the person you are speaking to is. That includes deciding whether to turn transcription on, and obtaining any consent the law requires. When transcription is enabled, the service plays an audible notice to the other party before any transcription begins; that notice is a tool to help you, not legal advice, and it may not be sufficient everywhere. If you are unsure, take your own advice.
For the content of your calls and messages, and for the contacts you add, you decide what the service does. Where the law of your country uses these terms, you act as the controller of that content and we act as your processor, handling it on your instructions.
NOT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE
Paroley must not be relied on to reach emergency services. It depends on your phone, your home internet connection, mains power and a working network, any of which can fail. Always keep another means of calling for help.
WHY WE HOLD IT
To provide the service you asked for and to perform our agreement with you; to keep the service secure and working, and to investigate problems and misuse; to meet legal obligations; and, where we rely on it, with your consent — which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use the content of your calls, messages or contacts for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial-intelligence models.
WHO ELSE IS INVOLVED
We use a small number of service providers to run Paroley — for hosting and storage, for account sign-in, for converting speech to text when you enable it, for delivering notifications, and for email. They act on our instructions under contract, may use the information only to provide their service to us, and may not use it for their own purposes.
We will tell you the categories and, on request, the identity of the providers we use. Write to info@oonelab.com.
We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims or to protect someone's safety. As explained above, encrypted content is not readable by us and so cannot be produced in a readable form. If we are ever compelled to disclose your information, we will tell you unless we are prohibited from doing so.
If our business is transferred to another company, information may transfer with it. We would tell you before that happened.
WHERE IT IS HELD
Our providers store information on servers in the United States. If you are in Canada, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, this means your information is transferred outside your country and may be accessible to authorities there under local law. Where required, these transfers are covered by standard contractual clauses or another approved safeguard. You can ask us for details.
HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
You choose how long call and message records are kept, in your settings. Your device applies that setting on its own schedule and deletes anything older, whether or not you are signed in. If you set no period, records are kept until you delete them or close your account.
You can delete individual calls, conversations and contacts at any time, or erase everything in your account in one action. When you close your account we delete the associated information, except where we are required to keep something, in which case we keep only that and only for as long as required.
WHAT YOU CAN ASK FOR
Depending on where you live, you may ask for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction, deletion, a portable copy, restriction of use, or to object to a particular use. You may also withdraw consent where we rely on it. You can export a copy of your account information from your settings, or write to info@oonelab.com and we will respond within 30 days.
We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. Note that a copy we provide cannot include content we are unable to read; that content is available to you through the service, using your key.
If our response does not satisfy you, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or — in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area — to your national data protection authority.
OTHER PEOPLE ON YOUR CALLS
The people who call you, and the people you call, do not have accounts with us and have no relationship with us. Information about them reaches us only because you chose to use the service for that call or message, and we handle it on your instructions.
If you are one of those people and you want to know what is held about you, contact the Paroley customer you were speaking with. If you cannot identify them, write to info@oonelab.com and we will help where we can, though what we can do is limited by the fact that the content is not readable by us.
CHILDREN
Paroley is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, write to info@oonelab.com and we will delete it.
COOKIES AND YOUR BROWSER
We do not use advertising cookies and we do not run third-party analytics.
The public website stores nothing on your device until you submit the waitlist form, at which point it writes two small markers: one noting when you submitted, so the form cannot be sent again immediately, and one version marker. Neither identifies you.
When you sign in to an account, your browser stores what is needed to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. Some of this is set by our sign-in provider. Clearing your browser storage will sign you out.
IF THIS CHANGES
We will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you through the service or by email before it takes effect.
